     He married Ida Jane Hays on Aug 4, 1878.7,4,8,1 John was listed as the head of a family on the 1910 Census in Scandia, Republic Co, KS. Merrit was a groom who owned horses. George was in school..9
     John Merritt Sigsbee and Ida Jane Sigsbee appeared on the census of Jan 27, 1920 in Scandia, Republic Co, KS; they owned a farm, mortgaged, and Merritt was listed as a "dram" (very hard to read -- i expect it was supposed to be drayman.)5
     John Merritt Sigsbee died in 1935.6 He was buried circa 1935 at Riverview Cemetery, in Scandia, Republic Co, in KS.6
