The Last Will and Testament of David Langel of Violet Township Fairfield County Ohio
In the name of the Benevalent Father of All. I the said David Langel being of sound and disposing mind and memory, considering the uncertainty of continuance in life and desiring to make such disposition of my worldly estate as I deem best, do make, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament; hereby revoking and annulling any and all former will or wills whatsoever by me made.
First I desire all my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid as soon as possible after my decease.
Second I give and bequeath unto my wife Eliza Langel for and during her natural life in liue of her dower the farm on which I now reside, bounded and described as follows, to wit: Situarted in the County of Fairfield and State of Ohio. Being part of the North East quarter of Section No Twenty Five Township No (15) fifteen range No (20) Twenty of the Lands directed to be sold at Chillicothie by the act of Congress. Less the amount of 8 Acres to be sold by Executor to Pay debets here after named.
Third I give grant devise and bequeath unto my wife Eliza Langel if she survives me. one horse to be selected by her from thoes I may own at the time of my decease. one Buggy & Harness, Three cows, and hogs Enough to make hur winter meat, and as much corn as she needs, and Forty Bushel of Wheat. Also all the household and Kitchen furniture, beds, bedding, books, pictures & which may be in my residence at the time of my decease. Also feed for Horse & cows Also Three hundred and fifty Dollars to be Paid her by Executor.
Fourth. I direct my Executor named here after to Sell the Personal Property at Public Sale and pay debts and if not suficent to pay the debts to sell Land Enough to pay my debts at Public or private Sale as he may think best.
Fifth. If my wife Eliza Langel Survives me it is my will and desire that my Executor here after named shall sell either at Public or private Sale after her decease and convey by good and sufficient deeds the lands devised to my wife Eliza Langel in item Second of this will upon such terms as may seem best to him.
Sixth. I give devise and bequeath unto my Son Henry H Langel and unto his legal heirs the Sum of Fifty (50) Dollars.
Seventh. I give devise and bequeath unto my Son Aaron Langel and unto his legal heirs the Sum of Fifty Dollars.
Eighth. After the Payment of all my Just debts, funeral expenses and the beuqests above mentioned, I devise and bequeath the balance and residue of my Estate, if any, to my legal heirs to wit: Malind [sic] Langel Adam Langel Isaac Langel William Langel Sarah Fenstermaker Eliza Caffets Henry H Langel Caroline Shirm Elnora Langel Aaron Langel, Share and share alike
I nominate and appoint my Son Adam Langel to be the Executor of this Will. In witness thereof, I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this Twenty Sixth day of June in the year Eighteen hundred and Eighty Eight
