Fauquier County, Virginia Deed Book 45-31
This Indenture made and entered into this 24th day of April 1843, between George J. Green of the first part, Sydnor P. Triplett of the Second part and Cam T. Page of the third part. Whereas the said George J. Green is justly indebted to the said Cam T. Page in the sum of four hundred and eighty one dollars and eight cents, as will fully appear by four notes of the said George J. Green, which said debt with the interest on each of the said notes of the times they respectively carry interest the said George J. Green is willing and desirous to secure -- Now this Indenture witnesseth that for and in consideration of the premises and also for the further consideration of five dollars in hand paid by the said Sydnor P. Triplett to the said George J. Green, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, he the said George J. Green hath given, granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain and sell unto the said Sydnor P. Triplett his executors and administrators forever the following slaves To wit; negro man Jack, negro boy Edmond and negro woman Mary and her future increase, To Have and to Hold the said slaves and the future increase of the female slave unto the said Sydnor P. Triplett his executors and administrators forever -- Upon trust nevertheless that the said Sydnor P. Triplett, his executors and administrators shall permit the said George J. Green to remain in quiet and peaceable possession of the said slaves and take the profits & hires thereof to his own use until the 1st day of September 1843, and then upon this further trust that the said Sydnor P. Triplett his executors and administrators, shall and will so soon after the said 1st day of September 1843 as he or they shall be requested to do, by the said Cam T. Page his executors and administrators sell the said slaves or such of them as shall be necessary to pay the said debt of $481.08 with the interest thereon, or such part of said debt and interest as may then remain unpaid, at public auction to the highest bidder for ready money, after having fixed the time and place of sale at his discretion and given thirty days notice of the time and place of sale in some newspaper printed in the Town of Warrenton, and out of the monies arising from such sale shall after satisfying the charges thereof and all other expences attending the premises, pay to the said Cam T. Page his executors, administrators or assigns the said sum of $481.08 with lawful interest thereon according to the said four notes, and the balance if any shall pay to the said George J. Green his executors and administrators. But if the said George J. Green shall fully pay off and discharge the said four notes, to the said Cam T. Page, before the 1st day of September 1843, then this indenture to be void, or else to remain in full force and virtue. In witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written.

We William Bell and John Marr justices of the peace in the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do hereby certify that George J. Green and Cam T. Page parties to a certain deed bearing date the 24th day of April 1843 and hereto annexed, personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be their act and deed and desired us to certify the said acknowledgment to the Clerk of the county court of Fauquier in order that the said deed may be recorded. Given under our hands and seals this 24 day of April 1843.

This Indenture made and entered into this 24" day of April 1843, Between George W. Green of the first part, Sydnor B. Triplett of the second part and Cam T. Page of the third part. Whereas the said George W. Green is justly indebted to the said Cam T. Page in the sum of $481.08, as will fully appear by his four notes, which said notes, with the interest thereon lawfully accruing the said George W. Green is willing and desirous to secure, they being the same notes in which George J. Green is bound and for which he hath this day given a deed of Trust as security, now this Indenture Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the premises and also by the further consideration of five dollars to the said George W. Green in hand paid by the said Sydnor B. Triplett, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, he the said George W. Green hath given, granted, bargained, sold and conveyed and by these presents doth give grant, bargain, sell and convey to the said Sydnor B. Triplett a certain tract of lease land in the Manor of Leeds on Fiery run and adjoining the lands of Thomas Johns, Hubert M Taylor & others and containing about two hundred acres, it being the same land which, was originally leased by Lord Fairfax to Thomas Burroughs, and lying and being in the County of Fauquier, To Have and To Hold this said tract of Lease Land unto the said Sydnor B. Triplette his heirs executors admrs forever -- Upon Trust nevertheless that the said Sydnor B. Triplett his executors and administrators shall permit the said George W. Green To remain in quiet and peaceable possession of the said tract of lease land and take the profits thereof until the 1st day of September 1843 and then upon this further trust that the said Sydnor B. Triplett his executors and administrators shall and will so soon after that said 1st day of September 1843 as he or they shall be requested so to do by the said Cam T. Page his executors and administrators, sell the said tract of leased land, at public auction to the highest bidder, for ready money, after having fixed the time and place of sale at his discretion and given thirty days notice thereof in some newpaper printed in the Town of Warrenton, and out of the monies arising from such sale shall after satisfying the charges thereof and all other expenses attending the premises pay to the said Cam.
