Olive R. Sawaya
Olive R. Sawaya, 89, Salina, died Friday, Aug. 22, 1997, at Salina Regional Health Center.
Mrs. Sawaya was born Olive R. Johnson on Aug. 8, 1908, near Hedville and was a lifelong resident of Salina. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband in the family business, Georges Appliance Store for many years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Salina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George R., in 1986 and a son, Jack David, in 1984.
Survivors include four sons, George R. Jr. of North Hollywood, Calif., Emerson Dean of Great Bend, Norman C. of Hutchinson, and Buddy of Durham, N.C.; two daughters, Norma Norene Cooke of Sacramento, Calif., and Anna E. Scuitte of Salina; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 302 S. Seventh, the Revs. Wendell Berggren and Stanley Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the church or Salina Education Foundation in care of the family.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.
