Gertrude Small

OXFORD - Ida "Gertrude" Small, 87, of Oxford, passed away Sept. 10, 2009, at Riverview Manor in Oxford.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Udall Cemetery.

Memorials are to KPTS Channel 8 Public Television or the McPherson Opera House.

Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Gertrude was born May 9, 1922, in Chapman, to Lyle and Hazel (Smith) De Witt. She was raised and educated in Chapman and Trego counties and graduated from Wilson High School in 1940.

She married Richard Small Oct. 12, 1949, in Wilson. Gertrude was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church in McPherson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard on Feb. 22, 1988, and two sisters, Myra De Witt and Marian Cunningham.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Gilbreath, and husband, James, Udall, and Margery Jones, and husband, Justin, Grove, Okla.; a sister, Jane Smith, North Platte, Neb.; grandchildren, Jamie Seahorn, Cody Jo Wilson, Lacy Wilson, Jade Jones, Dusti Wilson, Josh Jones and Brandi Jones; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
