Death of Mrs. Munsinger
Gloom and sorrow hung over the community lst Monday noon when the message came from Excelsior Springs, Missouri, announcing the death of Mrs. F.S. Munsinger, who had gone there with her husband a week before in the hope of finding releif from her chronic ailment of kidney affection. The message two days before the end came, carried no hope and the family and friends were prepared in a way for the shock. The remains arrived here Tuesday evening and were conducted to the home on West New York street. The casket was removed to the Baptist church yesterday at 1 o'clock where the many friends and acquaintances were allowed to view the face of one they had learned to love and respect.
Obituary--Miss Adella Phettaplace was born in Lone Rock, Richland county, Wisconsin on December 3, 1865. With her parents she came to Brown county, Kansas, in July, 1870, and in 1873 moved to Smith county where she has since resided, living south of town until a few years ago when she moved into Smith Centre. She was married to Mr. Fin S. Minsinger, the present county treasurer, October 3, 1885, and to this union tow children were born. For some time Mrs. Munsinger has been failing in health and recently her husband took her to Excelsior Springs, Missouri, in the hope of regaining her health, but it was too late and on Monday January 26, she passed away there. She was converted in 1895 and since that time she has lived a consistent christian life and at the time of her death she was a devoted member of the Baptist church of Smith Centre. She died in the triumph of the christian faith. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord;" they rest from their labore and their works do not follow them."
She leaves to mourn her death her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Vivian Tucker and Mrs. Virgie Colby, five grandchildren and a father. She also leaves two brotheers, Len and Winnie Phetteplace, and a sister, Mrs. Ira Frasier of Athol. Mrs. Munsinger will be greatly missed in this community where she has a host of friends but she was prepared to go, so we "Sorrow not as those who have no hope."
The funeral service was held in the Baptist church Wednesday fternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. L.B. Parker, in the presence of a large compalny of friends, and burial was made in Fairview cemetery.
