Death Takes Aged Mother
Funeral of Mrs. Dora Hays Jahnke Held Here Thursday
The funeral of Mrs. Dora Hays Jahnke was held Thursday afternoon, March 10, from the Simmons-Olliff Funeral Home in this city. Mrs. Jahnke had many friends in this vicinity, besides her sons and their families and other relatives. She lived here many years before going to Lincoln, Nebr., where she passed away at the home of her daughter. The services were conducted by Ira N. Faurot, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.
Eldora Hawley, daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth Hawley, was born in Monmouth, Ill. May 9, 1967 and departed this life on March 7, 1949 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 28 days. She was living at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ethel Schwier, of Lincoln, Nebr. at the time of her death.
She came to Kansas with her parents in the seventies as a young girl and made her home south of Smith Center, in Smith County.
In 1883 she was united in marriage to John M. Hays and to this union eight children were born. Two sons, Lawren and Marve and one daughter, Jennie, preceded her in death and Mr. Hays passed away in 1902.
In 1918 she moved to Lincoln, Nebr., where she made her home. In 1932 she was united in marriage to A. F. Jahnke at Bardwell, Ky. Mr. Jahnke passed away in March 1936.
While a young woman she was converted and united with the Methodist church and continued in the faith until her death.
The children who survive are Milo, Marion, Ed, Ethel and Jerlie. There are also 26 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
