GEORGE DIHLE DIES
END COMES ALMOST SUDDENLY TO BUSINESS MAN
Born in Salina 50 Years Ago, a Son of Two of Salina's Pioneer Residents
George W. Dihle , 50, one of Salina's best known business men, and a resident of this city all his life, died quite unexpectedly at 10 oclock Sunday night at his home, 152 South Tenth street.
For several years Mr. Dihle had been a sufferer, but while not well, his condition was not regarded as serious. Because of the state of his health he spent much less time than formerly at his place of business, on South Fifth street, devoting much time to exercise, which kept him up. Saturday afternoon he played golf with Dr. B. R. Lantz, apparently in as good health as ever. Sunday he was in apparent good health and it was while he was alone at home he was stricken with the newest heart attack. When his wife returned she found him partly recovered and endeavoring to get to the telephone to summon a physician.
George Dihle was born in Salina October 23, 1874. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Dihle, were among the pioneer residents of Salina, the father having been engaged in the harness business from the early days in the building now occupied by Rothschild's, South Santa Fe avenue. George Dihle was a member of the M. W. A., A. O. U. W., Elks and the Salina Country Club. He was affiliated with St. John's Lutheran church. He was also a member of the Salina Military Band when it was reputed to be the best band in the state. Surviving are the wife, two children, Robert, aged 13, and Evelyn, aged 9, and the following sisters: Mrs. Amanda Redford, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Josephine Hood, Chandler, Okla., Miss Ida Dihle, Mrs. Amelia Mercer and Mrs. B. A. Strickler, all of Salina.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 oclock Wednesday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran church, Dr. B. R. Lantz officiating. Interment will be in Gypsum Hill cemetery.
