MRS. MERRITT SIGSBEE PASSED AWAY SATURDAY
Mrs. Merritt Sigsbee died early last Saturday morning here at an age of 74 years. She had been ill but a few days. Death was caused by pneumonia and heart trouble.
Funeral services were held from the family home and the United Brethren Church last Sunday afternoon with the Rev. B. W. Selin and officers of the Rebecca Lodge officiating.

OBITUARY
Ida Jane Hayes was born at Shenandoah, Iowa on March 28, 1860, and departed this life on December 29, 1934 at the age of 74 years, 9 months and one day. She moved to Smith Center, Kansas, with her parents on the 23rd day of November, 1877. On Aug. 4, 1878 she was united in marriage to John Merritt Sigsbee. To this union was born four children, two, John and Mary Rebecca, dying in infancy. Remaining now to mourn her departure are her husband, John Merritt Sigsbee, a daughter, Maybelle Garber of Omaha, Nebraska, a son, George Sigsbee, of Ford, Kansas, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters.
She united with the Presbyterian Church 42 years ago and transferred to the United Brethren Church 21 years ago. She was a faithful and willing member of the United Brethren congregation. She was also a member of the Rebecca Lodge and the Royal Neighbor Lodge of Scandia.
May God strengthen those that mourn the loss of one beloved today. Peace to the departed's memory.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Dec. 30, 1934, from the family home and the United Brethren Church with Rev. B. W. Selin of the Methodist Church, officiating. The Rebecca Lodge conducted a brief service at the church and took part in the burial service. Several songs were sung by a trio consisting of Mrs. Ed Wires, Mrs. D. Cady and Mrs. R. Bettis. Mrs. G. P. Plotner assisted at the piano. Interment was made at Riverview.
