Ralph E. DeWitt

Ralph E. DeWitt, 73, 2431 Grandview Terrace, died yesterday at 3 p.m. in the St. Mary Hospital. Mr. DeWitt was born June 2, 1895 in Pawnee County, Nebr. He has been a resident of Manhattan for the past 50 years. He retired in 1960 as superintendent of Utilities and ground at Ft. Riley, where he was employed under civil service for 35 years.

Mr. DeWitt was a member of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Manhattan Elks Lodge 1185, Pierce Keller Post No. 17 American Legion, and a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include: his widow, Jessie L. DeWitt of the home; one son, Dwain E. DeWitt, Denver, Colo; one daughter, Mrs. Sylvia LaPorte, Goodland, and five grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited Friday at 3 p.m. in the Conroy All Faith Chapel, and a Bible Vigil will be held Friday at 8 p.m. in the Conroy Chapel.

Requiem Mass will be in the Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Saturday, at 11:15 a.m. with Father James Grennan officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
