Her mother passed on when she was eight days old. She then made her home with her grandparents, later moving to Smith County at the age of seven years.
In the year of 1888 she was married to Lennie Oric Phetteplace. To this union were born six children, four sons and two daughters. The husband, one daughter and two sons and an only sister, one grandchild, one great grandchild preceded her in death.

Always ready to lend a helping hand and share with others any things she had, her flowers were her constant joy. Her husband who passed away 17 years ago was ever present in her thoughts. She was baptized in the Baptist faith in 1893 by Rev. R. Goldsworth.
When alone she received much consolation from reading a chapter daily from her Bible as long as her health would permit. In her last moments, with a clear and steady voice, she sang these lines, "Down Life's Dark Trail I wandered, till Jesus came." Then she quietly slipped away, her soul had taken its flight. She was tenderly laid to rest beside her husband and children at Cedar.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. P. Goldsworth of Gem, Kans., at the Simmons-Olliff Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon, October 8.
