O.L. Hays Dies on His Way to Hospital
Orice Lee Hays, 60 years old, a driver for the Bell Taxicab company died Tuesday morning about 11 o'clock, while he was being taken to a hospital. His death was due to heart disease. Born December 15, 1884, in Smith county, Kansas, he had lived in Salina for 16 years, and his home was at 401 East Republic. Mr. Hays' wife died in 1935 and he is survived by 11 children, Clarence, South Dakota, Mrs. Veda Lady, Salina; Lowell, San Francisco; Mervin, Hutchinson, Vernon, Salina; Clein, Hutchinson; Mrs. Lila Jantz, Newton; Pearl, Salina; Mrs. Rosa Lee Goodwin, Salina, and Delbert and Nelda of the home. Three sisters, Mrs. May Frank, California, Mrs. Luella Hoskins, Missouri and Mrs. Harriet Fraser, of Chapman also survive.
Mr. Hays' body will lie in state at the Ryan Mortuary until 10:30 Sunday morning, when the funeral service will be held in charge of the Rev. Robert A. Hunt. The body will be taken to Chapman for another funeral at the Chapman Methodist church, of which Mr. Hays was a member. Burial will be in Indian Hill cemetery.
