George R. Sawaya
George R. Sawaya, 94, formerly of 130 S. Clark, died Sunday, April 6, at Windsor Estates Nursing Home.
Mr. Sawaya was born Feb. 19, 1892, in St. Paul, Minn. He had been owner and operated [sic] of George's Appliance for 35 years, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a former member of the American Legion, Elks, and Eagles.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jack D.
Survivors include his wife, Olive R. of the home; four sons, George Jr. of Los Angeles, Emerson D. of Great Bend, Norman C. of Hutchinson, and Buddy of Durham, N.C.; two daughters, Norene Cooke of Sacramento, Calif., and Ann Scuitte of 1007 Kirwin; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ryan Mortuary, the Revs. Herman Frerichs and Stanley Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Windsor Estates.
