Pneumonia Fatal To Mrs. Elmer Hays
Following an illness of one week, with pneumonia, Mrs. Elmer Hays died Monday of this week at her home in the south part of this city. Last rites were held yesterday forenoon in the Simmons-Rice funeral home, Rev. Smith of Kensington officiating. Burial was in Fairview cemetery.
Mrs. Hays, a home-loving, motherly woman, had lived in this city or near vicinity over a period of fifty years, and was admired and respected by everybody who knew her. She was married to Elmer Hays, July 9, 1888 in this city, and he and the following children survive: Vern of Agra; Gene of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Arden of Altamont, and Ralph, still at the parental home. The wives of Vern and Gene were with them at the funeral. Other out-of-town visitors present were Jim Hays and wife and daughter, Mrs. Perry Frazier and husband of Altamont; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hays and daughter, Mrs. Otto Bogge of Brush, Colo.; and two sisters of the deceased, Mrs. James Conrow and Mrs. G. C. Wiley, and a brother, Will Morrow, all of Burlington. We expect to have a biographical sketch for publication next week.
