Obituary
George R. Greene was born in Rappahannock county Virginia, June 11, 1836, died April 29, 1902, aged, 65 years, 10 months and 18 days.
He was married to Sarah C. Taylor, Aug. 28, 1862. This union was blest with eight daughters and one son. Three daughters preceded him to the better land.
He leaves to mourn his loss, a loving wife, five daughters, one son and nine grand-children.
He was a kind husband and an indulgent father. He was well known in the community in which he lived and esteemed by all who knew him.
He was a member of the late Black Horse Cavalry, of Virginia, and was with Gen. Early in the latter's raid up the Shenandoah Valley, but forsaking the cause he had espoused, came to Cherry Valley near Newark, O., March 11, 1865. He remained there five years, then came to
York Street where he lied for over a score and a half years until his death. With his wife, he united with the Christian Union church at Cherry Valley, O., Dec. 11, 1865, and was baptised by the Rev. Benj. Green.
He was resigned and ready to meet his Redeemer, his last words were: "I am allright and all is well."
